Job Description

The DST Business Analyst and Business Intelligence Developer for Husky will be responsible for designing, delivering, and maintaining the company’s enterprise business intelligence ecosystem, leveraging both internal and external data sources. This role will lead the development and support of enterprise-wide BI applications, data models, and analytics architecture. Working closely with senior business and IT stakeholders, the position will translate strategic data and information requirements into actionable solutions that enable data-driven decision making.

The incumbent will address complex technical challenges, optimize performance across BI platforms, and define data elements that drive meaningful insights and measurable business value. The role will also establish testing standards, develop and deliver training programs to enhance user adoption, and promote self‑service analytics. Additionally, this position will define governance standards, policies, and procedures for BI tools and data structures, establish data quality metrics, and evaluate emerging technologies to support continuous improvement of Husky’s enterprise BI capabilities.

Key Responsibilities & Key Success Metrics

  • Leading BI software development, deployment and maintenance 

  • Perform Data Profiling and Data Analysis activities to understand data sources

  • Report curation, template definition and analytical data modeling                                                         

  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather and document reporting requirements

  • Translate business requirements into specifications that will be used to implement the required reports and dashboards, created from potentially multiple data sources                                             

  • Identifies and resolves data reporting issues in a timely fashion, while looking for continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Build solutions that create value and resolve business problems

  • Provide technical guidance to designers and other stakeholders 

  • Work effectively with members of Digital Solutions Team            

  • Troubleshoots analytics tool problems and tunes for performance                                                         

  • Develops semantic layer and analytics query objects for end users                                                         

  • Translation of business questions and requirements into reports, views, and analytics query objects        

  • Ensuring that quality standards are met

  • Supporting Master Data Management Strategy

Qualifications: 

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of ERP and operational system data structures, with the ability to interpret, navigate, and optimize complex relational databases.

  • Advanced proficiency in writing high‑performance SQL queries against large‑scale, complex datasets, including optimization and troubleshooting.

  • Hands‑on experience in data visualization, dashboard design, and data storytelling, with the ability to translate analytical insights into clear, compelling, and actionable narratives.

  • Experience designing, debugging, and deploying BI solutions within an Azure DevOps (ADO) environment, including CI/CD practices, version control, and release management.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft BI Stack, including:

  • Power BI (data modeling, DAX, visualization best practices, Power BI Service)

  • SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS/AAS)—tabular model development, optimization, and deployment

Experience working with Azure Data Platform services such as Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse Analytics, and Power BI Service.

Knowledge of Databricks or Microsoft Fabric is considered a strong asset.

Business & Functional Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing and sales business processes, with the ability to translate operational requirements into analytical solutions.

  • Experience working in an international or distributed business environment, collaborating across regions and time zones.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to interpret requirements, profile data, validate output, and ensure accuracy across BI solutions.

  • Adept at diagnosing data inconsistencies, performance issues, and modeling challenges, proposing effective, scalable solutions.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to business stakeholders in clear, understandable terms.

  • Ability to facilitate meetings, workshops, and design sessions, enabling effective collaboration and informed decision-making.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams, including Data Engineering, Business Analysts, and business partners.

Language Requirements

  • Proficiency in English is required.

  • Knowledge of German or French is considered an asset.
