Director Operational Excellence (m/f/d)

Position Summary

The Director Operational Excellence (m/f/d) is a key leadership role responsible for driving operational transformation and advancing a culture of operational excellence across Cardiopulmonary Operations. Reporting to the COO, the position contributes to the development and execution of the Operations Strategy, leads strategic, cross-functional and cross-site transformation programs and ensures effective PMO governance and project execution.

The role provides strong people and organizational leadership by developing a team of Project Managers and Subject Matter Experts, fostering cross-functional collaboration and establishing, together with the Operations Management Team, the governance, capabilities, and operating model required to achieve strategic objectives and sustainable business improvements.

The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with a pragmatic, hands-on execution mindset, demonstrates strong leadership and change management capabilities and has a proven ability to lead transformation, build high-impact teams, and deliver results in a complex and regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development, deployment, and execution of the Operations Strategy
• Lead a portfolio of strategic, cross-functional, and cross-site transformation programs across Operational Excellence, NPI, Footprint, Supply Chain, and Digital Operations, ensuring alignment with the Operations Strategy and delivery of sustainable business results
• Ensure effective execution of the associated project portfolio, delivering agreed milestones, KPIs, and business outcomes
• Establish, own, and facilitate the PMO and Operations Council, providing governance, project management standards, prioritization and oversight of strategic programs and projects
• Partner closely with Site Directors, Functional Leaders, and key stakeholders to identify opportunities, align priorities, and drive execution
• Build, lead, and develop a high-impact Operational Excellence team of Project Managers and Subject Matter Experts
• Act as a change leader, enabling organizational transformation and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Ensure all programs, projects, and process improvement initiatives are executed in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, quality standards, and internal SOPs
• Regular business travel between the three operational sites in Hechingen, Rastatt, and Antalya to ensure effective cross-site collaboration, program execution, and operational alignment

Qualifications & Experience

• University degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field
• Proven expertise in leading transformation initiatives in a manufacturing environment, including Operational Excellence, Lean implementation, NPI, Supply Chain optimization, footprint initiatives, or other strategic programs
• Strong knowledge and practical application of Lean principles, continuous improvement methodologies, problem-solving tools, and project/program management practices
• Demonstrated success in building, leading, and developing teams and organizational capabilities
• Strong strategic thinking combined with a pragmatic, hands-on execution mindset
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills across all organizational levels
• Highly structured and results-oriented approach to planning and execution
• Ability to lead through influence, establish credibility without direct authority, and drive alignment and execution in complex matrix organizations
• Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably within MedTech or other highly regulated industries
• Fluent in English and German (written and spoken)
